Planting & Maintaining Trees
We can plant new trees if a tree has to be removed
We always encourage re-planting if a tree has been removed. We can advise what tree to plant and where, ensuring the newly planted tree survives for years to come. In discussion with our clients, we work out a maintenance plan that’s affordable and sustainable.
Working in Conservation Areas
Council-approved contractors with years of experience working in conservation areas
If a tree is in a conservation area, it is protected and will require us to submit a planning application S211 notice to the local authority. Some trees are protected by a tree preservation order (TPO). We work closely with council tree officers and will submit planning applications for free.

Tree Maintenance FAQs
Your tree may be growing too close to a building or is blocking light to the garden. It might need management for health and safety reasons. It’s worth getting advice from a professional tree surgery expert who can advise what kind of tree care your tree needs.
Different trees require pruning at different times of the year. Maybe to reduce the chance of spreading disease or maybe to maximise flowering. For example, magnolia trees should be pruned after they have flowered to maximise the flowering next spring. Trees in the Prunus genus are best pruned in the summer to reduce the chance of getting silver leaf disease.
Trees can be cut down at any time of year. Some trees will regrow from a cut stump, so may require poisoning. In this case, the poison will only take effect during the growing season (March onwards).
Some species of tree can be pollarded and will regrow (e.g. sycamore, lime, London plane). Some trees require more selective pruning and will start to decay if pruned too heavily (e.g. cherry, birch or mimosa).
Yes. At the quoting stage, we will advise if your tree is in a conservation area or protected by a tree preservation order (TPO). We can submit planning applications on your behalf and don’t charge for this service, provided we have been instructed to do the work.
